Biographie de l'artiste:

There are many different types of art I love to make. I do it to keep busy and I like to create things for people that make them happy. I like the idea of gifting things that have a personal touch to them – my personal touch, influenced by the North and my experiences here.

I have lived in Yellowknife since 1999. I was in a car accident in 2004 and broke both my elbows. Essentially I was stuck in the knitting position and needed something to do so my mom taught me the basics. My mom also got me into pottery. She signed me up for a course to keep me busy over the winter.

I was taught by a Dene elder in Fort Simpson to bead and sew. I was a white water canoe guide on the Nahanni River and during my stints off I would meet up with her. It is such a beautiful art that I hope it gets passed down for generations. I like to be inspired by art that surrounds me. Then I take what I have learned and tweak it to make it my own.
