My mother’s grandma and grandpa raised me in a traditional way. They taught me to do crafts and sewing, and at some point I started making my own designs too. I think about how I am going to make something and then I draw it on the paper. I look at different flowers and decide how to draw them. I use all kinds of beads, any colour. I feel good when I sew because it relaxes me.

I sew on either moose hide or stroud. I tanned a hide for the first time this year. It was a lot of work! Once we finished working on it and smoked it, it was great because I had a lot of material to make any craft I wanted. I also like to use beaver and rabbit fur to trim the things I make.
