Douglas Lafferty was born in Hay River, Northwest Territories in 1959. He began creating art when he was 14 years old. Douglas was inspired to create art by his older brother Sonny. Creating art makes Douglas happy and keeps his mind and hands busy.
Douglas likes to create art to see expressions on people's faces and how they react to his artwork. Most of his art is created with ideas from his fellow community members.
Douglas became interested in making art as a source of income.
