Debra Anne Michon Weir

Biographie de l'artiste:

Originally from Northern Ontario, I have had the privilege to call many places in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut home for many years.

My passion for creating arts and crafts has evolved and changed over time. A few years ago I was drawn to painting reclaimed objects, such as old wooden masks and wood work pieces. I used colourful paints and added “dots”giving extra life to the objects.

Over time, I transitioned to canvas, a one dimension medium.  And I found myself settling into the world of abstract and interpretive art.  I was unable to forget my original passion of “dots” (which is like a strong magnetic force I have to add to my paintings). Sometimes the “dots” are snow, rain, tree fluff, or stars – not sure but they are there. I also have a deep connection to trees, and have found our Northern trees to be especially inspiring.

It is amazing and exciting to see people look at my paintings and “see” things or themes. I listen in awe, and it makes me take a second look too! But sometimes, I just see trees and snow! I hope you find joy or are moved when you gaze at my art. Whatever you see or feel is exactly what it is supposed to be, after all, Art is in the Eye of the Beholder!
