Biographie de l'artiste:

Shayla Arey is an Inuvialuit artist from Aklavik, NT.

I have been sewing and making traditional clothing for about 10 years. I learned from our local elders, sewing instructors and am still learning how when people share their tips or different ways of doing a piece of clothing. When I had my son, I knew I wanted to have all these traditional clothing for him so I had to learn and I enjoy it.

I make mitts, fur hats, parkas, mukluks and accessories such as headbands, scrunchies and earrings. Each of my items I make are Inuvialuit culture and I like to incorporate the "granny hankie" into my pieces.
