Louise Speakman lives in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She is Sahtugot'ine from Deline, Northwest Territories. She is self taught and began beading in February 2021. Beading inspires her creativity and grounds her in her culture. She has her degree in social work and currently works with MMIWG initiatives with Executive and Indigenous Affairs. Her late grandmother, Dora Vital, was an amazing beader - and she hopes to create beautiful pieces throughout her life just like she did. Her beadwork includes quillwork and tufting and is always evolving as she experiments with new designs.
