Artist Story

I first introduction to clay was in high school and thought one day I would take a pottery class to learn how to make pottery I could use.  It wasn't until I moved to Yellowknife from New Westminster, BC in 2002 that I would finally get my hands in clay again.  Just a few months after arriving in Yellowknife I took a wheel throwing class at the Yellowknife Guild Of Arts And Crafts.  I was hooked, I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed being creative and working with clay.

My work is mostly wheel thrown functional pieces such as mugs, cups, bowls and plates that can be enjoyed and used every day.  Nature and the beauty of the north are inspiration for how I create pieces.  Birch trees, raw clay and the colours found in nature are often part of my designs.

I always look forward to spending time in my home studio creating new work, testing glazes, trying out new ideas and exploring new techniques.
