Biographie de l'artiste:

I am a multimedia artist of Kutchi (Indian) and European ancestry based in Inuvik. I work with textiles, embroidery and beads, photography, paint, and anything I can get my hands on. I love bold, contrasting colours, movement, repetition, and the play between symmetry and asymmetry, which is all inspired both subconsciously and directly by the bright threads, mirrors, and beads in women’s sewing in India. My photography focuses on the beautiful people around me and the bold environment we live in, so that my subjects can light up when they see themselves.

I’m a wildlife biologist by trade, and I take inspiration from wild things of all sizes, as well as human connections to each other and to the natural world. I spend every spare moment making things.

My photography and writing can be found printed in various media, and more of my work can be found at www.instagram.com/loftyrags.portfolio.
