Artist Bio

Verna has lived in Fort Good Hope, NT for 25 years. Taught by her mother and grandmother she has been producing tradititonal fine crafts for 7 years. Her creations include, beaded hide purses, cardholders, moccasins, mukluks, mitts, glass and gun cases, jackets and hair barrettes. Verna enjoys creating new crafts and feels that it is very important to her culture and tradition to carry on the skills that she has learned from her family. "If it weren't for my grandmother and mother, I probably wouldn't even know how to bead or thread a needle." Her future goal is to further her education in the Fashion Industry and to keep the traditional art of beading alive by teaching the next generations to come.
