Artist Story
I am a makeup artist, which means that I’m able to create a wide variety of makeup, whether it’s day-to-day, bridal, or costume makeup. My passion for this art form started when I went to school to become an aesthetician, where we also learned how to apply makeup. I instantly felt like I had found something that I truly love to do, so I’ve kept working on developing these skills ever since.
I like to keep day-to-day makeup simple with simple eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara. Bridal art can be a bit trickier because I want it to pop more, so you have to incorporate colors depending on the bride’s eyes and skin tone. My favorite of all is creating gory makeup, like what you see in scary movies and TV shows. I often practice crafting mock injuries on myself and can create them easily with wax, glue, fake blood and regular makeup.
Makeup can be an expression of how we feel inside. It’s not about looking pretty, it’s about feeling good about yourself. I know that if one of my loved ones is feeling blue, I can do something to make them feel better.
