I moved to the NWT in the winter of 2013 and was blown away with the size of the sky, the vastness of the land, rivers, lakes and forests but most of all by the people who I met and became friends with in Fort Providence. I felt at home in a place that was totally alien to me. The whole experience was and still is strange, new and exciting.
The Auroras was something I had always wanted to see, and on my second night in Fort Providence , the heavens obliged with a display of shimmering green light that danced like a silk ribbon in a soft breeze, slowly laying out its path from one end of the midnight sky to a distant other.
Don’t misunderstand me Scotland is a beautiful country and has the same varied landscape as Canada; mountains, coastlines, rivers, valleys, forests and moors but on a much much smaller scale, even the sky looks smaller. It is the natural beauty of the NWT that inspires me to add color and patterns to my wood turnings
