I grew up dressed in beautiful clothing my late Mama Jane Charlie Sr. made for me. I was about 16 years old when she gave me a starter sewing kit in a cookie tin. The kit included a pair of uppers, needles, thread, beads, scissors, and thimbles. She did this for many of her grandchildren. Every time I sit and sew I think of her, think of how proud she would be...that makes me happy and encourages me to keep going.
On top of being a busy mom to 5 beautiful girls and a wife to my amazing husband Brandon, I make sure to find the time to sew. I started out making earrings, after a year or so; I wanted to learn more and took every chance I had to learn as much as I can. My first completed project I did was at a sewing circle group, a few ladies including myself watched a you tube video and made a pair of slippers ...from there, my love for sewing with fur began.
I enjoy making seal skin slippers with granny hanky uppers, these are my most popular item, closely followed by mitts. I have made mitts out of many different materials, leather, fur, canvas, and hide. I also enjoy making earrings.
