Artist Bio

I started sketching in the late 50's, My mother and father were exhibited amateur artists, and my sister is currently doing a 30 piece show in Moncton, NB. I have many influences including Nova Scotia artists John Cook, Arthur Lloy, Anthony Law(war and marine) etc. I have a small studio workshop, but do a lot of walks taking pictures and mental color and form notes. I like the versatility afforded by mixed media on board {modelling paste, colored pencil, glitter, metallic colors, latex, acrylic -in short what ever works for the project). I enjoy the challenge of a project where some problem solving is required. I like to paint large, min/mum 3 X 4' and work up to 4 X 6 or even mural size. This requires a lot of physicality so I really enjoy when the paining is going well and it requires my whole body getting into it. My work is narrative art, telling a story. The style is usually naturalistic representational with a touch of impressionism. I like to invoke some of the history, landscape and animals or people of the north as well as other projects like The Village of Women which is about Africa.
